The college is dedicated to Don Bosco, a 19th century visionary who created a system of education for children from marginalized areas of society. The system had 3 aspects - loving kindness, reason and religion. The organisation still continues in many parts of the world today. From what I can see online the college closed in 2000 but there are annual reunions and one small area appears to be still used regularly. I had seen photos of a couple of rooms which did look different to the other areas - in much better condition and with robes and other religious paraphernalia. It was locked when I tried it but about 20 minutes later I heard a choir singing, so figured it must be coming from that room. The visit was quite typical of most of my experiences in Italy - pretty chilled, with that soft warm light giving everything that magical glow, but always the feeling that there's never quite enough time.
