I thought I would have a go at somthing underground. Just a little one to test the water.
Combs reservoir is a feeder for the peak forest canal. The feeder runs though Whaley bridge, and (along with the toddbrook feed) enters the canal system in a pool close to the transhipments shed at Whaley canal basin.
At the moment the water level is extreemly low allowing me to have a nosey up a passage I've looked at since a kid.
A metal grid work covers a stone built shaft dropping down to a set of small steps presumably to break up any substrate falling down. This leads under the dam as a stone tunnel until it gets to the roadway where it turns to a concrete rectangle until exit.
I don't know the proper terms for things and I only have my phone for pictures but I had a go
