The Crown street tunnel is 291yds long,
running from Edge hill to Crown street goods yard.
There's no air shafts or refuges,
a lot of the bore is cut through the rock face with no brick lining.
The tunnel opened in 1829 & closed in 1972,
this was the first tunnel in the world to run beneath the streets.
