This one has been on the back burner for a while now (pardon the pun) the brigade finally moved out for good now and have relocated elsewhere in Durham. This station is due for demo and new houses to be built on the site.
A brief history here. The service was formed on 1 April 1948 as a result of the Fire Services Act 1947; however in later years it progressed to become one of the largest fire services in the North East of England. The first Chief Fire Officer was C.V Hall and was appointed this position on 19 September 1947. The large area covered by the FRS was then divided into three areas, consisting of: Divisions A-C. The Service now has its own training school, workshops and HQ - located in Framwellgate Moor. Relocated to Belmont in Durham from last year.
Me and Cat looked at the place last year only to find lots of activity still so fast forward to June 2015 and having read in local papers that the development will go ahead figured it might be worth a look, so again me and Cat went for another look, sadly not all of it is doable yet the main buildings are sealed tight and alarmed plus active cctv in most places that said we found some places accessible so this is what we found hopefully more will come open as the demo men move in oh and Sed you were a big miss mate hope to see you soon and your feeling better.

Sadly the tower was sealed too. Also no sign of the pole! Still at least this is a new site and may get better as time goes on.
