This art-deco cinema was built in 1934. surviving until 1964. It then became a very successful bingo club, until closure at the end of last summer. Standing on a large site in the middle of the town, planning permission was given to replace it with a 15,000 sq. ft. Lidl. Demolition started in May, but the building had the last laugh, as the front wall collapsed into the street, crushing a car and blocking the road and tramtracks!
