Glendburn Sports College - Skelmersdale - November 2016
The Explore
Visited with a non-member, expecting nothing more than basically a bare shell even though this place hasn't really been abandoned for that long. Due to the rumours i'd heard about gangs of kids getting in and smashing the place up. Although it is evident that things like that have been happening and most of it is just bare, there are some big treasures in this place that I wasn't expecting. I didn't get into all of the buildings just 2 or 3 but this was only because of time, and I plan to do a revisit soon...
The History
Glendburn Sports College opened in 1967 and rang it's bell for the final time in August 2016 after achieving the worst GCSE results in Lancashire, and having one of the lowest amount of pupils on its books (320, when the school was built for over 1000 pupils) . Despite 92% of Skelmersdale voting against the closure, Lancashire County Council didn't listen and went ahead with the plans anyway.

Yes there seemed to be fluorescent lights dangling down everywhere for some reason!
