H.M. Prison Northeye was a prison located at Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, England which was in operation from 1969 to 1992.
The prison was formerly the site of a Royal Air Force Mobile Radio Unit which housed reserve equipment for the Chain Home radar station at Pevensey. It subsequently became a radar station itself, but was decommissioned in 1964. It was subsequently opened as a Category C training prison in January 1969.
It was one of the prisons which participated in the prison strike organised by Preservation of the Rights of Prisoners in 1972.[2]
In 1986 40% of the prison was destroyed when 60 of the 450 inmates rioted in response to being locked in their cells for 23 hours a day during a Prison Officers overtime ban.
The United Arab Emirates took over the site in 1993 after the prison closed in 1992, they used it as a technical training project until 2010. The site is now currently disused.
The explore
We had originally gone to check this out end of January following another explore we did a walk round the perimeter and found a hole but as it was getting dark we decided we would come back to it another day, shortly after i was told by another explorer that all the buildings were sealed up tight and high secca and claimed to occasionally do work on site so would give me a heads up if ever open (i now know that was bs just a way of discouraging others from going) but after seeing a recent post we decided to head back having been told about another entry point closer to where we could park we set off only to find it patched up we then decided to take the long walk to the hole we had previously found on the off chance it was still open fortunately it was still there so in we went
Our first stop was the small cell block that appears to have been used for paperwork storage after the prison closed
we then headed over to the sports hall where we came across a few unusual things
a mini wind tunnel
a control unit
and some robots lol while looking around we found 3 and what we asume was some sort of track for them we even put some batteries in one and it still worked
this is when it started to drizzle having been given the location of the clinic we decided to head there just incase secca did turn up
we then heard voices and after a moment of panic we found a radio left on in the next room
we then headed for the canteen for a bite to eat Unfortunately there was nothing on the menu we liked 😂
then we decided to have a game of snooker
we then checked out a few of the smaller buildings
then the warehouse, it had the back room of a chairty shop vibe to it lol
at this point I really wanted to try out the digger arm 🥺 having found the fuse box we decided to flip on the power and i got to try it....(for about 2 seconds) before the fire alarm went off 😬😂
this also would of been interesting to turn on some sort of aircraft wing simulator?
we then headed to the separate fenced area
by this point we were all soaked and headed for the boiler house
at this point we noticed a light on in one of the buildings near the main gate unsure if it was secca and soaking wet we decided to call it a day and head to the local pub for a much needed meal
thanks for looking
