Originally named Alte Liebe, this passenger ferry was built in Germany in 1959 for Hadal Hamburg. Its purpose was for harbour cruises and excursions to Cuxhaven and Helgoland. Transferred to the Malmo - Copenhagen service in 1962, as the Orestad. Working out of the German Baltic ports from 1973, now the Baltica I and yet another name change in 1977 to Habicht II. Laid up in 1994, but sold to Bridgewater Leisure Ltd the following year, being renamed(again!) Princess Royal.
After moving to Liverpool Docks under its own power, it would appear that agreement could not be reached with the powers that be for it to become some kind of "fun ship", so it has mouldered away for the past seventeen years. Due to asbestos contamination, breaking up could be very expensive, but it may not even be fit to tow now, so the future is uncertain.
Visited with a non member equipped with a gas detector and only went below where it was safe to do so.
Just outside the graving dock where 2 navy ships were recently scrapped.
