Millhouse / Gone / Morse
I bought some new waders, and headed over to Manchester to meet up with Morse and Gone. We decided to go and check out a few of the city’s drains, so after trekking over to UMIST we got our waders on and climbed down into the water of the Medlock - to find Gone’s dodgy gaffer tape repair to his waders wasn’t exactly water tight We cracked on regardless and made our way through ‘UMIST’, the carrying on down the river to the nearby ‘Hulme Flume’s Little Brother’, passing under bridges and hiding while we shouted up at the pissheads in their Halloween costumes above
Info:
UMIST: A square concrete pipe design that splits the Medlock into two, eventually reconnecting about half a kilometre downstream.
Hulme Flume’s Little Brother: Victorian brick built CSO (Combined Sewer Owerflow) which links to the River Medlock. The penstock is one of the smaller in the city and is labelled P14.
Thanks to Gone for the info.
After Hulme, we trekked through the busy city, still in our waders. As we made our way through we witnessed some strange guys throwing up some graff in plain view of everyone at the Arndale, got some very strange looks from people dressed equally ridiculously as we were, and got laughed at by some police officers.
