1. The History
Not a great deal on this place out there. Lying three miles to the east of Rotherham town centre, the former school buildings were more recently used as the Council Training Centre. Prior to the fire it was empty and in a bit of a poor way and went up for auction with estate agents Mark Jenkinson & Son at a guide price of £175,000 in January 2107 and was sold to a new owner.
In November 2017, a large fire occurred. At the height of the incident there were five fire crews from Rotherham, Maltby, Aston, Parkway and Dearne along with an Aerial Ladder Platform. In January 2019, a planning application was received for the erection of 16 numbered dwellings and 16 numbered apartments in a 4-storey block. Nothing appears to have progressed and the site remains abandoned and derelict
2. The Explore
Nothing particularly to write home about. Was on the way from one explore to another when I spotted this place so decided to pull up and have a shufty for half an hour.
The place is a total wreck and wouldn’t recommend going out of your way for this place. However, there were a few nice bits to shoot including the lovely glazed wall tiles. Hence, I thought I’d post up a brief report, given it doesn’t appear to have been covered before.
3.The Photos
And finally, those lovely tiles:
