History:

Nottingham Guildhall was built in 1887-88 and is a former magistrates' court. In 1996, all magistrates were moved to the new Nottingham Magistrates' Court building in Nottingham. The structure was most recently used by Nottingham City Council as offices in the 1990s up until 2010. In 2010 the council left for new, modern offices at Loxley House, close to Nottingham rail station. Since this date the building has remained council-owned. In 2016 the site went up for sale, but was stalled in January 2023 when the site became listed. Just recently, according to Wikipedia and other news sources, vandals had set fire to the guildhall several times - not something we'd seen on our visit... Apparently the fire hadn't caused significant damage though.

Explore:

When we initially arrived to the site we did a few laps of the parameter, seeing the fire station and Guildhall in all its glory. We thought we'd found a potential entry point at the front of the Guildhall however after @jaws tried squeezing himself through a tiny window he soon found it to be a massive drop and we moved on. Feeling defeated, we went for one last walk around to find some kids shouting on the roof nearer to the fire station, as they left, we entered... Unfortunately we only got to explore the main Guildhall building itself and adjoining building.

We entered from the ground floor up a set of stairs and into a very dark corridor. Soon enough we were in the first courtroom. The architecture of this place was incredible, looks like they had retained the old entrance as well as the old wood paneling in the courtrooms.

We then ventured down into the basement to find the old cells, directly below the courtrooms. It looked very much untouched down here compared the majority of the place. Once we'd looked at the basement we did a full sweep of the building including the attic, roof and old offices at the back of the site.

@jaws was banged up after being naughty and climbing to the top....
Not the first time he's got us into trouble for exposing himself

Apologies for the blurry basement pic! I think it's time for a camera upgrade. I've had my trusty Nikon for about 10 years now. Funnily enough I smashed the screen on this visit....
Thanks all,
SB ;)
