First off a massive thanks to True_British_Metal for the tour of the place. Secondly, this is my first report so if I bugger anything up let me know and I'll sort it out!
Okay, so you probably know this place to death by now so I will give you the history in brief.
Used by the USAF during the cold war, the base was finally closed in 1994. During its hay day, it was "like visiting a mini America" as my mum puts it. They had everything from a hospital to a theatre.
Todays explore focused on the Dorm blocks, these were where the USAF Cadets would have stayed during their time there. Each floor had several dorms, a living area, and two sets of toilets/showers. While they were there they left some amazing murals! I'll put some of the pictures here..
Now on to Chow Hall, or "The Lamplighter Inn". Used as a main dining hall for all the dorms. There has been an arson attack and it's pretty stripped inside, was still nice to explore...
The rest can be found here.
Some arty farty ones too..
