The site was built shortly before WW2 and was used as a depot for the Royal Ulster Rifles. During the war, the US Army were based there before reverting back to the Ulster Rifles in 1945. The site elevated to the regional centre for infantry training in 1964 and was also the home of the Royal Irish Rangers and the Royal Irish Regiment.
Following an improvement in the security situation, the barracks were closed in 2008. The site was given to the North Ireland Executive in 2012 and remained the home of the Royal Irish Regiment Museum until recently. The site is in a prime location and is earmarked for residential development.
I'd say we only got around 20% of the place as most of it was locked up tight with no signs of vandalism or damage anywhere, but as it's not been reported on before might as well share.
