Visited this one with R1 after doing the baths in Harpurhey, and very enjoyable it was too. Sadly since R1 was first in a while back the place has been stripped bare of pretty much everything that was left so the place felt a bit empty, but there were a few bits and pieces lying around.
The hospital first opened in 1884 and was once one of the world's leading centres for TB research and was the first hospital to offer treatment to poor people, although given the fact it's Bowdon I doubt there would have been that many!!
The place is showing some serious decay in places, ceilings are coming down and there is a lot of damage from damp. The upper floors aren't in too good a condition either as Si found out when he nearly went through one. In fact, looking at it it's hard to believe it only closed at the beginning 2005.
Anyway, pictures. Cheers for giving me the tour, Si, lovely brew back at yours too!
