(This is a repost of my report that sadly got deleted)
Back with yet another drain, this one is a great one
The Bagley Dike.
one of the most nutorious Sheffield brooks next to the CarBrook, for its unbelievably stoopy mess of a brook underground (probably because its so close to ground level for alot of its duration)
This particular section is its best, and Ive been told there is no reason to go any further up stream.
St00p S00p Sc00p
Entrance to this culvert was fairly simple, over a small wall and down a ladder, however I was challenged by one of the mechanics from the car mechanic bang next to the infall (there are 3 believe it or not)
After a short conversation I was granted entry (not like I wouldnt have just gone in anyway, he isnt any sort of enviromental agency )
Straight away, greeted with a stoop...
Over a little cascade and now it starts getting big!
As we walk down this section, it gets taller and taller! Its maximum height was probably around 9-10ft? Awesome stuff!
Here is some size comparison:
Going on further it starts getting stoopy very fast, here is (what I like to call) the double barrel arches, however past these arches it gets ALOT worse.
This section is the stoopiest piece of culvert I have EVER step foot in. I was crouching the entirety of this section. My theory is that this was made so stoopy because we are so close to ground level. Above us in this section is a main road, so not having much room to make a sizable culvert it was built low down to make sure it is strong enough for the cars to go over.
Making an exit here from that stoopy mess of a section, luckily really short but enough to leave ya legs aching!
Back to brick, notice that little side outfall? Thats the scoop, however thats for another day Onward!
Under the iron bridge!
Looking back upstream, giving my back a break
We then go left, then right! Also some roots!
Here it changes to natural river bed with deep pools... hurray... Also a nice little cascade completely made out of ragz!
Round another corner, the roar of water got louder and louder, the floor seems to just drop off, what could it be??
A fucking awesome waterfall!
(out of focus...)
Onward from here there isnt really any features, it gets deep and filty, no pics further than here! Time to turn back.
Back to a sizable culvert
Until finally, daylight
Really enjoyed this culvert even with the stoopy backpain, thanks for reading!
