Me and some friends (based of a recommendation) decided to check out this abandoned mine near Selby and stillingfleet. While cycling we read several signs about the place, and upon researching, here's a summary:
-part of the Selby super pits that were massive in the 90s, and one of the first to reach 1 million tonnes of coal made.
-Over a kilometre deep, and 3-5k distance underground
-out of use since 2004, except for rare police training drills (lots of bullets around the place)
