After seeing some info on a closed royal mail depot we decided to head to oxford seeing as both the depot and the pools where 5 mins apart..
We Left nice and early. And after a long drive we arrived at the royal mail depot. However we decided to wait it out after driving into the depot car park and being confronted by a stand-alone mobile CCTV tower that had VPS on the side.
After a little waiting. Over into the main compound we went and soon in the depot after about 5 mins the depot was surrounded by armed police and the usual questions followed.
So as soon as they had done with us we decided to hit the pools. These looked like they would have been nice when open.
Oxford council decided to sell it off for £3.5m and it closed 23rd December 2014. It was empty since then and sadly now its long gone visited the pools twice prior to demolition. The pools where in very good condition. Not really very much history on it.
On with the photos..
The Mixed Sauna
Main Pool
Diving End
The Roof Structure was vast.
Sign Boards
Smaller Pool
Main Lobby
Main Entrance
We went back in august to see the progress on the place.
This was the day before demolition the place had been gutted the entire contents left behind in the building was in a pile outside and in the main lobby area.
We planned on a return to do the royal mail depot but it was sold to a Logistics firm and was already leased out by the time we planned our return.
