Background:
Opened over 30 years ago in the Walkley area of Sheffield, The Baker's Shop closed in November 2023 after a serving the community for a significant amount of time. The Bakers Shop was inside the old Yorkshire Bank building on Howard Road, Walkley, and opened in the 1990s. Unfortunately I couldn't find any dates relating to the bank branch here.
There are currently plans to convert the building into accommodation/flats.
The explore:
The building has a ground floor and first floor that is accessed from a staircase in the main lobby area. Here it is clear that some rooms were used as offices and space for the bakery. Most of the machinery and equipment has now been removed. The basement area is of a significant size and the original vault from the buildings days as the Yorkshire Bank is still present.
