History: This is an old worsted-spinning mill built around 1850 on the Black Brook in a style typical of the region. It was last home to John Horsfall & sons producing textiles and specialising in "travel textiles"
A demolition notice was granted in 2016 and the weaving sheds have gone as can be seen comparing the aerial view at https://demolitionregister.org/2016/05/02/west-vale-works-greetland/ with the external shot below.
The Visit: Two lessons learned from this one. Firstly a partial success can still be an enjoyable mooch as having gained entry, the stairwell was sealed barring access to the upper floors. Secondly, white spirit works well for removing anti-climb paint.
Thanks for looking
