1555 Prison

If you want a building with some age I give you this little gem built in.. yes u have guessed it 1555

​

Back all the way to 874 this "castle" was built for a noble family who lived here for some time.
What sounds like it could be a romantic story is actually quite the opposite. Because in 1861 the castle was converted into a prison!
From here on it was a sinister place in which especially prisoners of forced laborers were locked away from the outside world.

​

It was quite active during ww2, where it held foreign prisoners of war and instated forced labor.
The prison has been unused since 1991 but is still in remarkable condition, its a stunning place that really deserves to be turned into a museum IMO

one from a berlin roadtrip last year, the explore was simple enough though being a sleepy village we had to be careful from the curtain twitchers.
We spent a good few hours soaking up the atmosphere in here, lots of pics as always.
