Hi, been lurking on here for a couple of weeks, really enjoying seeing everyone’s photos. I don’t get much time to explore these days (kids etc!) but I have these great photos of the new palace theatre and the malthouse pub. I took them in August 2015. There was a ghost hunt going on so access then wasn’t a problem. Was great getting to the higher less accessible areas though -albeit pretty risky as the floorboards were very unstable - as the dressing rooms shown were used by Laurel & Hardy when they performed here. This area was so eerie and it felt like more than the pigeons were watching. I know this place had been done before but I’ve some pretty cool inside shots here that I wasn’t sure if anyone had seen.

Dont get why this would be permission visit tbh, its so run down, im surprised they allow ghost hunters in. Looks like the photos are from a ghost hunt too. Very dusty photos too. But thank you for sharing these, it nice to see other bits from here :thumb

It was a permission visit as they were trying to raise money to restore it, so I saw this as a good opportunity to have a decent look around. Not sure what you mean by they look like ghost hunt photos? They’re dusty as hell as it was literally crumbling everywhere.

Structurally it's sound, and actually not particularly dangerous for visitors. I think you can see that with better lighting - we spent quite a while there in order to capture the lighting as best we could -

Fantastic report that, I remember seeing it, looks like a different place in the above photos. Thanks for the link :thumbSo was that permission also? as I love old theatres.

No rudeness intended,( just Ive seen & bumped into a lot of ghost groups when I urbex at night, they do abandoned buildings, and you mentioned a ghost hunt. The photo with people in just reminded me of groups Ive seen sitting in a circle is all, posting their orb photos, ie dust photos. )

Your report is good, it shows different areas to previous reports, and its good to see, I could & should of worded that differently, we all take advantage when we can, and if that means blending in with a group and grabbing photos kudo, big big well done :thumbsorry if I offended, never my intension or my way. Yes I can see it need restoring and I hope it does get the money, these buildings are so precious .
