The History
Anochrome Jigs was a small engineering works near Derby city centre. It seems to have been closed since late 2010 – certainly by 2011 I remember it being shut - and undertook various light fabrication work and also the manufacture of pushchairs. The larger engineering machinery was auctioned off during 2016 and the site is now owned by developer Wheeldon Homes, so expect more unaffordable ‘executive’ homes shortly!
The Explore
I ignored this place for a long time because it looked rubbish but it ended up being quite the opposite and I’ve spent many relaxed hours here over the summer. The place got pretty smashed up recently as the wall of vegetation was cut back revealing the access point to all, so a lot of items have gone walkies and there’s been plenty of metal theft too. Thankfully I had a good nose around before the idiots found their way in.
We also had a look in the small derp house next door (Spring Cottage) on our first visit, but apart from some nice original fireplaces there was nothing to report.
The following shots were taken during a few visits from April through to September. I'm using my 30ish shot limit here with the excuse that it's my favourite local spot, so soz…
Excitement is building
Spring Cottage
And into the little office & reception area
The workshops where the larger machinery would have been
Pushbike has since managed to wheel its way out of the place...
Locker area and some bizarre occult art found within
Tempus Erit - latin for 'In Time'
And finally upstairs - originally rammed with stuff, now everything has been stolen or thrown around...
Avery
View from the balcony
Honda tank has long since vanished
That's it, thanks for looking.
