Baltimore Tower is a 150m, 45 floor, a twisty residential tower under construction in the Isle of Dogs. We thought we'd sample the view from the future brasserie, bar and restaurant. With stone worktops in the kitchen and marble floors in the bathroom you know who these flats are for. This was the site of the London Arena, a 15000 seat multipurpose venue which only stood for 15 years. My sister went to see Justin Timberlake here. It was also home to the London Knights, an ice hockey team with mainly Canadian reject players. They lasted until 2003, when the UK Ice Hockey Superleague went into liquidation.
There were a fair few of us, some with experience, most without. It made for an interesting evening. After a barking dog caused a false start, entry was reasonably ok, until said dog made more noise causing one of the group to knock over some metal tubing. We then got to the top of the building fairly quickly.
Leaving was uneventful, until the on-site dog made an appearance. One member of the group held back to distract security, everyone else made a hasty exit. No harm done in the end.
Thought I'd throw in a few pictures from a previous visit to Dollar Bay, another nearby tower which is half done. This one will be 31 floors when finished, again it's going to be apartments.
