Wow! :thumb
I'd be absolutely knackered after that.
Awesome report though, I bet it was freezing up there.

Thanks man. It actually was really nice up there that night. It wasn't cold, and barely any wind was present. Couldn't have picked a better night.

That is some seriously insane stuff there man, just watching the video gave me the vertigo feeling in the pit of my stomach!
Nice report & kudos for conquering it. BTW I've actually got an SLA 3D print of the Baltimore tower in my company's studio :D

Hey guys,
Here's the video I made from it with my gopro.

Hi everyone, fun police here.

No, not really, though i suspect my first post on this site may not make me too popular...

First off, congrats on this outing, i was reccing this place [RECENTLY] Well done. :thumb

That aside, what prompted me to register is the video uploaded on youtube. You see, i'm not an explorer, but as one of a few people who likes to jump off them high places we share playgrounds with you, and posting public videos on youtube, along with the name, of objects such as building sites is a sure way of getting security increased and spoil the fun for everyone else who may want to use the facilities.

Not sure if this has been talked about before here, and I'm not aware on the ethics involved in your 'sport', but within the base community doing something like that is called "to burn an object" and generally frowned upon. Do you guys have something like that? I believe there are some base jumpers involved in urban exploration as well.

Anyway, what i was wondering is if it would be cool to maybe keep videos private or only accessible with the link until the places are out of bounds due to completion, etc. (or at least until i have jumped it :D ) I'm thinking to stop it going viral like that vid from the guy who got on King's Reach and made it all the harder for everyone else to get in.

What's the general consensus with things like that?

Cheers guys. Now where did i put my asbestos suit? :coat

If you read back you'll see that the problem has already been commented on by people here.

Plus, as you are new - you missed the dozen or so posts about it that have been deleted.

Anyway, what i was wondering is if it would be cool to maybe keep videos private

Well we have a lovely non-public section, thank you - but pointless us moving it - as it is hosted on a little site called youtube - so it's up to the OP and his conscience

@GoneFishing, I couldn't agree more, the problem these day's is people lack restraint posting stuff like this, I know some people who made it up here just after that video was posted, the crane had jumped a lot higher by then and has been sadly locked off soon after. It's an all too familiar tale these day's fella and it's not just your 'hobby' it's affecting too

James Kingston mate, he's one of the cool kids

In other news, sadly there is no easy solution to the problem as we aint the internet Police, of course we can (and often do) delete/shift stuff here, we can't stop people posting such sites on Flickr, blogs etc as many more of these here today gone tomorrow cool kids come and go for the next best selfie/vanity wank etc

In a way it's better these sites are made more difficult as the more determined people will still have the ability to see them and over time will keep the people who choose to bring unwanted attention to such places away

I too have quite a few friends in the base community and often pass each other info/heads up on places, it's been a two way street in that respect and I hear where you are coming from mate

I know it's not the answer you were probably looking for, but goes some way to explaining how things typically are these days

I'm not actually familiar with the ins and outs of this site though i lurk regularly, and just realised i myself unknowingly reposted the video link in my reply... Doh!

Cheers Styru

It's all cool Ojay. Same issue happening all round not matter the activity. Best we can do is try to talk to people and hope they understand, and if they don't then the world still goes around and tomorrow is another day. :thumb

GoneFishing, we know exactly what you mean, and it's something we try and minimise. However, once it's gone on facebook and youtube, which are outside our control, it's a fairly hopeless situation.

BTW I've helped you guys out a couple of times, was also a good acquaintance of a good BASE guy sadly passed away.
