I am new to this exploration of abandoned locations and was inspired to start searching for local locations. On this website I stumbled across this power substation in Barking and really wanted to visit due to my photography project in school
After finding the location, me and some friends found the location and set out ready to take some pictures.
Entry was difficult as security tailed us for some time. Once we had the chance, we found an area that we could enter through.
The substation itself was very clean and untouched by people - however very decayed. Nature started to take over the building, with grass, flowers and even hedges started to form within the substation. The fun part was finding the control room, which contained a vast amount of photographic material, showing the history of the substation. The thrill of it felt like I entered a time machine and travelled back to the past.
This location was an amazing experience and I would love any feedback on any improvements I can make.

Good effort on your 1st report. Some of the photos are a bit blurry, either a tripod or making sure your free hand photography is stable. Im no photographer, but plenty on here provide great photos, and could probably give you some tips better than me.

Welcome aboard ๐Ÿ‘

Great first effort! there are lots of knowledgeable people on here that offer great advice, I'm fairly new myself and they have given me some decent pointers ;)

I have been meaning to take a look at this place for ages, there are only two of us so hopefully we can try and get in undetected.

Cheers

Good first report and what a great site to start on. Not everyone is into photos, some just like looking around buildings as that what itโ€™s mainly about. But most take some shots for documenting a place, so often exploring and photography often go hand in hand. I would definitely try to get your shots more level. And if using a camera get a tripod. If using a phone, get a gimbal, it will stabilise your phone and keep it level. I have just got one and they are great fun, though it wonโ€™t replace my camera. Happy hunting though and keep doing what you like.

Thank you for this information, my hands were very cold when i took some of these photos so some were shaky and blurry. Very much appreciated๐Ÿ‘
