I saw this on the local rag online the day it closed and posted the lead to the fellahs, then promptly forgot about it for 3 weeks, when @Terminal Decline said he was popping up for the weekend.

We had a recce but there was still a skeleton crew kicking about doing some banging. We found the disabled access and planned to return on the Sunday.

Turning up 2 days later surprisingly saw the site now covered in cameras on poles and darlicks! As usual they'd left glaringly obvious chinks in the armour and getting on site and avoiding the security measures was still no problem.

The company made carbon cathode blocks for the alluminium smelting sector, closing with the loss of 150 jobs.

I've binned my camera shots as it wasn't the easiest to shoot, so all pics are phone.

The art deco office frontage showed the works to be older than initially thought, complete with crittall windows intact.

Passing the now surveilled carbon plant we made our approach.

We entered at the Pit Kiln Area, which adjoined the Dry & Wet Machining Areas.

Heading from here gave a view of the middle of the site, with a previously disused bunker store and the C&S Plant in front. Access from the hoppers led up to the top of the conveyor.

Raw materials are stored between the epically named Monolithics and Graphite Ramming Areas.

A final push led to the Chemical Carbon & Packing Areas.

We gave the Labs, Canteen, and Offices a miss as the security bod is parked here at the front entrance.

Overall a surprisingly relaxed affair of the like never seen in Donny. I'm sure Dave will be along with a more comprehensive effort. In the words of Matt Hancock - Get out there, get some reports up, keep yer NP

Phone exploring, proper winner and a spot on looking smelly Yorkshire industro-derp to boot.

Also with phone only, this means presumably that you 'went live' to your followers using your phone having found a fresh new bando?

Last time I did anything urbex related, my phone absolutely kicked the shit out of the crusty old 5D on low light / exposure comp etc etc, pretty much pointless lugging the bag around anymore.

You joke but he actually did because I demanded constant updates via Telegram.
