visit was with Vwdirtboy, Toad and Bobby aka Robbobby
I cant find out much about this place but I will keep working at it.
Here is the stuff I found out about the stone from the quarry...
Since 1922 The Forest of Dean Stone Firms has been quarrying and processing the unique Forest Blue /Grey and Grey/Green Sandstones that are only available from the mineral reserves at the Barn hill / Bixhead Quarry situated in the heart of the Forest of Dean .
With a pedigree that goes back some 150 years this fine grained pennant sandstone has been proven through past use backed up by modern test data to have a enviable reputation for durability and weathering.
Some notable examples such as Cardiff Castle, Tintern Abbey, Gloucester, Avon mouth and Cardiff Docks just go to prove that Barnhill Sandstone is suitable for all building, landscape and domestic applications.
Leave only foot prints...
