You know what might be really useful ? .

Would it be a brand new member that thinks its funny to be rude about the person who owns, runs, and pays for the site that said n00b has just joined for free?

No, that would just be stupid.

Fail of a first post mate

"Can't find any history on the place....."

You know what might be really useful ? Some sort of global electronic network that allows you to use a free indexing service to - almost instantly - search for information by doing nothing more complicated than entering search terms such as "Bixhead" ?

http://www.pastscape.org.uk/hob.asp That's the English Heritage description of the quarries.

And

http://www.gsia.org.uk/reprints/1987/gi198717.pdf

Which is a .pdf of a document that looks like it was written by a local history buff in 1987.

To be fair, there's not that much info (but then I only spent two minutes looking !) Short version : They're post medieval, though there has been quarrying in the area since at least the 15th Century. Eastnor Castle is probably built of stone from here.

hey you gobby fucking cunt.

What about showing me anything on the internet that relates to the underground stone mine, specifically, in said quarries.

Leads me to a number of points...

1.) Previously, nobody else has been able to find any information.
2.) YOU wont be able to find any information.
3.) I'm not wasting half a day looking either.
4.) Your name looks good in red.

Do you even realise how vague and ridiculous that sounds? Especially as it only applies to the nearby opencast quarry.

How about:
"Quarrying took place in the underground section within a couple of thousand years of the death of Christ. It resulted in a large absence of limestone wherever it was removed. The stone was probably taken away on something that had wheels. Coleford police station may have some of the stone in its foundations."

Fucking troll.

...and that's from the guy that is an expert.
