Visited here today with Gorecki! First things first (I have my priorities sorted!) thanks to Gorecki for making this happen (sounds like a bliddy Baftas award i've just won! ) (many recce's have been made that's for sure!).
This place is huuuge!!
The paper mills, also known more locally as 'The muggiemoss paper mills', had for a long time been a major employer in Aiber-deen, with it employing around about 1000 workers at it's peak! Unsurprisingly, my family has little connections here through other people as im sure many folk who have been brought up here do.
However, more 'recent' years has seen the gradual winding down of the site and apprantely now only 4 employees remain, overseeing the site until it is finally finished for ever in September. (Production has stopped obviously).
Inside the machine room number 5
emergency shower
old machine
Almost totally in tact paper machine! It's seriously massive!
suspended moving crane
the closure time of the machine in "number 4"
looking from the control room out in to the work area
beneath the machine
in tact machine
stairs
a tap in the water treatment section
in tact control room!
An old photo of the machine in action!
Inside one of the testing labs
Had a great time and was a real interesting place! Glad to have caught some of it before it's lost to the developers!
