Built in 1948 in a modernist / deco style in the middle of the pleasant Bramcote Hills Park, the school started out as ‘Bramcote Hills Boys’ School’ and went through several names including ‘Bramcote Secondary Modern School’ until finally being called simply ‘The Bramcote School’. In the summer of 2017 the 476 pupil school closed due to expanding costs of maintenance, with pupils moving to the nearby sixth form college. The former school currently awaits demolition and it has been proposed that the site should be sold for housing – which has been met with stiff opposition since it sits in the middle of a public park. The money raised by the sale of the site would have been put towards construction of a new upper school on the former playing fields nearby.
This is probably my favourite 'abandoned' school for several reasons; pleasing modernist architecture, nice original crittall style windows, classrooms replete with desks & supplies, light and airy curved corridor running the length of the building… Why can't they make schools look like this now?
A Few visits have gone into this, so excuse the amount of pictures!

Main entrance
The main hall sits directly behind the entrance (featuring some nasty glare bouncing off the shiny floor through the curtains!)
‘Hot choice’ café
The dining hall – it did have some nice light fittings but they were stripped before I saw this bit
Moving through the school towards the main coridoor
This nice curved corridor runs the length of the school
Science block
Science storeroom, still rammed with abandoned equipment to look through
Mr Subbarao's science class
Another science classroom
Teacher's office
Library
The PE block features this nice gym (not my picture) but has since been screwed shut, so including this for the sake of completion!
At the Eastern most side of the building – not a lot of time was spent in this part. It went from locked up & fresh to destroyed and heavily boarded quite suddenly and probably wasn't worth crawling on bits of glass to get under the sensor to find out
‘Cookery’
And finally at the edge of the school, art class (probably my favourite room despite the mess the local idiots have made)
That's all, thanks for looking
