Another one from last year that I hadn't got around to posting, so here goes..... Visited with @SpiderMonkey and @extreme_ironing. I really enjoyed this station and it's interestingly stripey painted turbines.
History
Commissioned in 1971, the power plant at La Maxe too up around the same amount of land as the small town from which it takes its name. It's two units supplied by Alsthom were capable of producing 500 MW of electricity. The station was closed in 2015, around the same time as many other coal fired plants in France.
Aerial view of La Maxe (stolen from Google again!)
Froggie Frenchness
I liked this colour scheme
The feed pumps were about the only other piece of equipment in the turbine hall other than the turbines themselves, as is often the case at the European stations
The control room had been modernised
Offices
The spare parts store was still fully stocked
Pipes!
The mills had cool symmetrical pipes
Pulverised fuel mills
The tank bay
Lots of vertical pipes
An extreme_ironing
External on the way out
