The origins of this former convent date back to the beginning of the 12th century. It was built on some castle ruins in the Tuscan countryside. Over the years it has undergone a succession of expansions to make it what it is today. It is believed that the site was vacated in the 1990s due to the deteriorating condition of the buildings. The majority of the convent has now been completely stripped, but the church has been left in its original state. It was a pretty chilled affair until I got a message telling me not to come outside because the owner had turned up and was not a happy bunny. He claimed he had called the police and it wasn't long until I could hear the sirens coming. My friend drove off and the owner gave chase for a few miles but soon gave up. He left another guy waiting outside the church so I had to find an alternative escape route. I made my way down a steep hill through woodland and joined a different road to the one we'd arrived on. Soon enough we were on our way out of the area. Taking photos is fun and all but you can't beat a bit of cat and mouse!

The chapel is impressive and features a whopping 8 confessional booths for some reason.

I hadn't noticed the motion sensors either side of the altar until I edited my photos. These explain a lot!

Looks awesome and I had to look very closely to check if it's the same one I did! The main thing that confused me was that there were no benches in the chapel when I went in 2023

Beautiful pics. Also, there's a fun explore, and then there's a fun explore! Nothing like a bit of cat and mouse to get the blood pumping.

Apart from being dusty, that's a really pristine site. Probably due to the vigilant owner, haha.

I'd love to know what the (paintings?) would have looked like in those blank canvasses on the wall. Surely they weren't always blank, but then why get rid of them?

Yeah I'm not sure what's happened there. Looks good with the seats though!

I read that there were some masterpieces dating back to the 17th & 18th centuries so presumably they've been put in storage somewhere.

EDIT: Just did a bit more digging and turns out the place was ransacked by thieves last year. They stole the missing paintings and a ton of other stuff.
