I was here just today! Was getting myself prepared to do a write up on the place as I thought it was one that had flown under the radar and then I found this report while doing some Google research. Oh well!

Things are definitely looking a lot more chaotic a year later. The old cars out back are gone, save for the VW Camper, and things seem to be in a lot more disarray. I think someone has made a half-hearted clearout attempt.

Might do a report of my own still as I did manage to find and get pictures of some quite interesting clutter including a bunch of old car keys and parts. But we'll see!

I am surprised it's even still there. Was a new skip in the grounds when I went. Shame the cars had gone as they were nice. You should do a report as it's always nice to see others take on places and how they have changed.

An old Skoda dealership that sits just outside Norwich. It consists of some workshop bays and a small sales office. It sold fuel at the front supplied by Esso at the front. Reading on car forums that people were still going there in 2012 so think closure was not long after that. The owner was one of those that had everything you needed to fix your Skoda. Upstairs in a large dark room it is filled with shelves of spares. I think he liked hoarding though. The front and rear were filled with old cars. But these have been slowly cleared out bit by bit. Now only a few cars remain. A large black skip has been placed in the front courtyard meaning a clear out maybe soon. It prob went into decline when VW took over Skoda as a company and wanting things run differently. Plus it was on the main Norwich to Cromer road till they bypassed that bit. But that was many years ago.
I decided to make the afternoon trip to it as I was off away for a weekends. They had forecast heavy rain for that afternoon. So quickly took some photos of the cars then squeezed inside. I spent ages inside having a root about with some interesting things to see. It was also a mower repair place and sold parts, so quite a few mowers about.

Starting with the few cars that remain.

The showroom. It's leaking badly in here. Someone had placed lots of plastic boxes to catch the water.

I remember that old Grey Tape Recorder Radio. Roger Knowled used to play the SAME repeating Cassette tape in it when he was testing car Radios for some reason. The Bay with the Yellow Metal painted Lift was the MOT Bay in those days. The Initials of the Director geoffrey are still on the red rbick wall of the original "shop front window". Seeing the Business folded around 2012 I guess he died there, in his Maisonete next to the Garage. Kindof very sad really....he used to have a decent house not far away. I guess he had to sell it to pay money back into the Business. Clearly he remained doing what he knew and did best until the very "end came". The Skoda Favorit was at the time a huge "hope" because it offerred outstanding value for Money and cost a FRACTION of what other UK Cars then cost with less features and less Modernity. SKODA used to be built in a factory by prisoners but if you were not "proud" and ignored the raft of Skoda "jokes" at the time, youd have a decent car to run around in. JUBB the Cromer Entertainer used to drive around in them and promoted some i seem to recall. Given the huge amount of FAVORIT spare aprts lying in the photos of other report, I guess they "Lost" the Contract with VW who bought Skoda up. They sure never made enough out of petrol sales.

Is this still there to explore?
Not by this time no i very much doubt. Ive never been back there since I worked there long ago during the 1980's, I live in the EU now, dont keep up to date much with UK Inc.... but I think it was scheduled for re development, the land has "hope value" to property developers id say. If...if of course, they can clean away all the polluttion from oil chemicals and Petrol etc.....and decades of old battery acid...anyone fancy a new house built there? Hmmmm Yukkkk
