Report - Crewkerne Cave. April 2025

[Westcountry Explorer]

A fair few weeks ago now I spotted the entry for Crewkerne Cave on the Mendip Cave registry website. Theres no information about it online that I've been able to find, other than it's location.

Today I finally got the opportunity to pop over to Crewkerne and have a look see. Unfortunately I couldn't get past the entrance as my shoulders are too wide/broad; even when I attempted to go in sideways my shoulders proved to be too big lol

As a result, all I've got to offer you all in this report is three photos.

I'd have liked to have been able to explore more of the Cave buy hey ho; at least I've satisfied some of my curiosity 😊

This is definitely a cave system for a slim built explorer. Are there any cavers near Crewkerne fancy giving it a looksee? If there are, I for one would enjoy seeing your report on it 👍🙂

looks a bit of a tight one that. I cant find any info on UKC or buddlepit so Im guessing its not a very extensive complex

Aye, it certainly was tight lol.

I've got a suspicion there's not much at all to the system.

I agree. Proper good stuff indeed on offer on the Mendips

The rope and plastic container suggest that it is being dug by cavers, so it might get a bit bigger........................
