That's some effort right there, fair play. Brilliant.

I was there a couple of weeks back; the place is just one massive adult playground isn't it? So much to see!

I need to head back at some point. If anyone's heading up and doesn't mind the company, I'd love to tag along. It'd be cool to see the place with people who know what they're doing for once ;)

Cheers mate. And credit to you as your photo info on Flickr had some great info on the place that I used when writing my report. Much appreciated.

A very impressive and in-depth report, still need to get this one done. Doubt it will be this year now. Hope the hats are friendly I won’t want to mess with those horns.

Nicely done and comprehensive report :thumb

Looking at what and where you managed to see I doubt very few safety brews were consumed that day!

Do it mate. You know it makes sense. Wanna go back already!

Was bloody windy and moody but still so good. Still not finished with the place, but then any excuse.

Also found this Pathe video today while moooching goontube, some nice bits you can still see now:

CONTINUED (4):

Far end of the cutting shed:

The Australia level C5 drum house. It was in remarkably good condition until recently when a storm caused the roof to completely cave in:

Looking down the C5 incline:

Here the pipe runs, for both air and water, appear to have been gathered up by the scrapman. It appears that the thought of having to bring them 1,600 ft down the mountainside led to a change of heart!

Its an unusual feature of slate quarries that they construct so many buildings and structures out of the material being quarried, most quarries don't do this but then slate always produces vast amounts of waste material so it makes sense to use it for building if it wasn't up to tile grade.
