The bulldozers were getting closer to this building so I asked to photograph it. The owner said he intends to refurbish it.
History:
George Banks Ashburner described himself as a yeoman farmer and lime burner in 1825 and as farmer and iron ore master in 1849. His grandson, also named George Banks Ashburner built Dowdales mansion but committed suicide when he got the bill. The mines worked until 1912.
This building is all that is left today and I think it deserves a report on the grounds of oddity as it looks like a shed on the outside but is actually full of water. It provided water for the boilers in its day and with a new roof might supply water to the cattle for another 150 years.
