In January 2012 the plans for a new football stadium were presented in the city of Acapulco.
In the same month, not only construction began but also stalls were already sold and the new stadium was heavily promoted on buses, billboards etc.
Even Radamel Falcao who played for Atlético Madrid back then, tweeted his support for the project and met with one of the officials involved…
Only 2 years later in 2014 construction came to a halt due to a lack of funding and the project has remained in an inconclusive state ever since and is slowly but surely being taken back by Mother Nature at a pacific beach, just outside of an old Mexican holiday hotspot.
