The original Fire Station in Dudley was built in 1892. But, by the 30’s it was time for a move to new premises, but WW2 put paid to that happening, so it wasn’t until after the war that the new station was built a few streets away.
As you can maybe make out from the banner in the first picture, Dudley college had recently acquired the building when I visited earlier this year, which has been empty for many a year to be honest. (the even, newer station having moved out of the town some years ago)
The college agreed to keep the facade of the building in the interests of ‘history’, and as I type this, that is all that now remains of the old Fire Station, the rest of the buildings have gone.
