A friend of mine has suggested what the peg boxes might be- flat fire hoses flip flopped with the nozzle nestling in the pegs.

I don't see any obvious evidence of a hydrant feed nearby though.

There are what could be the remains of metal clips in the centres of the boxes - spare ropes sound plausible to me though.

Someone should really have a look under the former stage area, and maybe the basement - apparently there is one.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to travel up around this way in the summer so many decent T&C’s up around here bugger all down south. Early theatres make me go weak at the knees and I love that asbestos door.
