Garendon High School, Loughborough, Leicestershire - 2024/2025
This former high school in the Leicestershire town of Loughborough was opened in 1954 by Roland Gould who was Minister for Education and was originally a secondary school for boys which was designed in a modernist style by architect T. A Collins. In September 2012 Garendon High School merged with the neighbouring Burleigh Community College, leaving the high school buildings mothballed and disused. Currently the school is looking to sell off the disused site and put the money raised into improvising the existing schools’ facilities.
Had a brief look at this back in 2019, but the sudden appearance of a security man who immediately gave me stink-eye put me off. After this it became a little more looked after for a while with a sometimes-working, sometimes-not-working alarm, but it presently cuts a rather sorry sight and is starting to look quite tired. Internally it’s held up rather well, considering most places in Leicestershire tend to get done over by morons pretty quickly.

There was another annex, this one named 'Ferrigan' after a former head master. Not a lot to see in here apart from a small lecture theatre.
What the place lacks in 'stuff left behind', it more than makes up for in some fantastic modernist features.
