Garrandale is a key supplier to Derby train manufacturer Bombardier and offers a host of engineering services, including design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of bespoke items and equipment. The company moved out of their aging premises on Alfreton Road to a new purpose-built factory nearby in summer 2019. The former site was purchased by Morgan Industrial Properties and is well on the way to being redeveloped.
Since the rail industry is one of only a couple of things Derby has going for it, I was rather looking forward to this place... Unfortunately it would have been a much better place to do if I hadn’t forgotten about it last summer, meaning demolition had already begun by the time I visited and the biggest sheds and most potentially interesting bits had already bitten the dust and heavy stripping had occurred.
