This freaked me out as a kid walking up the old floating roadway that used to be there,because you could see inside that tunnel as there are open arches all up the side too,and the combination of river mud and sewer outfall products [this was before MEPAS stopped the nastiness] slopping around inside that tunnel...wasn't very nice. Although Ojay may disagree!

One I took a fortnight ago, there was still water outfalling but not sure if it is now connected to the new canal on the pierhead as an overflow or something in one of the tunnelled sections.
