I’d had my eye on the Grosvenor Casino for a while, but it always seemed sealed off. Then, I got a tip about a way in, and after a quick check, we were inside.
The place closed in 2015 and had been left to rot. The ground floor used to be full of slot machines and poker tables, and there was a large ballroom on the top floor. Now, it was dark, damp, and covered in pigeon droppings. The ballroom had some old gold detailing, but it was mostly peeling and covered in graffiti. The casino floor was unrecognizable—empty, with broken glass and graffiti everywhere.
In 2021, My Dog Sighs held an art exhibition here, but now, it’s all just decay.
Any previous ways in had been secured quickly, but since the place is soon to be demolished, they might not care as much anymore. I had to move fast before anything else was locked down. It wasn’t the pristine casino I imagined, but it was still a memorable explore.
