Not too far of a trek down. Place closed in 1968. The hatch wasn't open, and we didn't leave it open either - the counter works very nicely. It's in the middle of a field, too. In fact there was a dog walker that came past me as I emerged from the top, who I had a little chat about the Cold War with. 
Nearly all stripped out in the monitoring room, but essentially accessible and dry.
Lots of graffiti about the place.
We found a little notebook and pencil where people were signing their names off and leaving a comment about their visit.
