I went over to Heathrow airport today to take a look at the crash-landed 777 and took a look at the Hounslow Post at the same time. Its pretty easy to find, along from Hatton Cross Underdrground station just before an access gate to the airport.
The post itself is right up by the perimeter fence, but is difficult to see and photograph as there is metal plating halfway up the fence. It was shut in 1968 having been open for only two years, and retains some green paint on the wooden shutters of the ventilation shaft. The BPI is not visible and there is a locking handle located on the top of the hatch.
Needless to say, there is no chance of a closer inspection of this particular post!
