Opened in 1819, the Independent Chapel is Grade II Listed
The Church’s first reverend in 1819 was Rev John Addison Coombs.
1831 it’s name to the Congregational Church.
1972 saw the Congregational Church combine with the English Presbyterian Church to become the United Reformed Church of England and Wales.
1973 the church changed the buildings name from the Independent Chapel to Chapel Street & Hope, United Reformed Church.
Due to dwindling numbers decided to close the Chapel in 2022.
