Thank you for the update and heads up! I was wondering whether anyone had visited, of late actually.

Apparently, the post-1860 extensions have been recently demolished in preparation for the original building to be renovated. I guess that was always going to happen as those aspects of the property had no real value. What is the place like at the moment then, if you have been? The place was apparently in a right state recently? So it sounds bizarre how there would be an armed response (of all things!) for such a building at this stage in its dereliction, when it was likely becoming a shell? The strategies of the owning companies of such buildings never cease to be of fascination, judging by how buildings' demises unfold on here.
The place is being gutted and flattened for spitfire homes basically a housing estate of some kind

As a postscript to round off mine and others posts (and so no one wastes their time seeing if it's still accessible) here's what happened to Jephson House. Sometimes it's nice to know what happened in the end. As commented by @Abandoned hd - the site has indeed been redeveloped by Spitfire.
Annoyingly, I missed the most recent parts of the building being demolished which happened in winter 2021. As what was always likely - the ancillary buildings, cottages and more recent additions were pulled down, while the original Victorian house have been restored, along with some of the original garden layouts. Of course, there's also a bunch of new expensive shoe boxes on site as well, turning this into a mini gated estate.

I'm surprised this place lasted as long as it did as it seemed like an increasing fire and general destruction risk, plus the rot in the main building was pretty nasty, with water trickling down the walls, floors squelchy and the ceilings sagging. The place had been properly punked, sadly.

I'll miss this derp. It was a bit dull as buildings go, but was a relaxing place to visit and you could let your imagination wander... think it's back in the hazy days of 2004 and this part of the memorable asylums, that sort of thing.
It also felt quite remote despite being right next to a busy A Road. The panelled boardroom does still remind me of Talgarth Hospital, and after visiting there since, I think I wasn't far off. Of course, it's great that it's been saved and is there for people to enjoy and protect once more.
But there's also the selfish side where I wanted to be able to roam this place for more years, see and capture how it changes, find more archive material on the place and generally have the site as my go-to chill-out location. It's funny the places you get attached to, sometimes.
I also miss doing stop-frame sequences with the fire extinguishers in one of the upstairs rooms 😃

Anyway, thanks for looking.
PS - I tried artfully arranging the photos but they keep re-arranging into this random order when I hit save.

Much rather something like that gets saved before an inevitable fire totally destroys it, at least.
