Report - Kyloe House Sercure Children's Home Old Build Morpeth Northumberland February 2019

This was a strange place as there was an older building next to it which use to be a sercure children's home, then there was another build near that which was the new building, but wow what an amazing place this was to explore, so much stuff was left behind!!!

What was also strange, was that we found cupboards with airholes in them and chairs inside, was there abuse going on in this place???
Some parts of the building were trashed, as others were untouched.

It is, how they just leave all this stuff is beyond me, places like this could be used to house the homeless as well.

Yes they could but authorities and most companies don't care about that when they should care, I always see loads of things worth lot of money left in places like hospital beds and hospital equipment etc worth loads but cos they cba it gets left

Hi all, my friend and I have visited the old Kyloe House today (info we gained from this site, thanks!) and thoroughly enjoyed it! We managed to get into the end house opposite but couldn’t go upstairs due to half of the floor beams being ripped out. Please keep posting if there is anymore in this area

great explore and loads of stuff just left... had a good few hours in the building and around the site... if you plan on going to wonder about try and avoid the new building as its got cameras at every angle lol if the cameras catch you they will ring the police... the police did say the new build is like a prison for naughty kids so its quick response.. the police took our names and said dont come back but they told us a little history about the old building... it used to be a secure home for naughty kids 18 years and younger... the police did say the new building did have the person who killed jamie bulger... https://inews.co.uk/news/uk/james-bulger-killers-jon-venables-robert-thompson-murder-now/ i dont no if he still there.. if anyone can find any information on this it be good to be updated.

And its crazy to think that Jamie Bulgers killers were in there, we had no clue, we just found this place by chance

Yea was great explore and i no its crazy finding out the killers wer there

Regarding the cupboards with air holes and chairs within, yes this was probably for punishment. Would be considered child abuse these days, but at the time was presumably considered acceptable punishment and not abuse.

Reminds me of the 'isolation' rooms we had in my secondary school as punishment, so I'd assume they'd be similar to that?

The Bulger killers were never there. I worked at the unit at the time and as there were only around 5 secure units in England at the time of the crime rumours spread. However they never were at Kyloe House. The abandoned units were actually two open children’s homes and assessment centres for years after the old secure unit closed in 1997. So nothing remains of the old secure unit. As for cupboards with holes in they are just built in wardrobes with ventilation holes nothing sinister about it a typical feature of 60’s 70.s built homes to prevent dampness in cupboards. Someone’s just thrown a chair in one look around you can see from the air hockey that virtually everything is from the past is quite recent as both homes only closed several years ago.

I'd say the chair in the cupboard was put there and used by the scrap fairies, who look like they've done a pretty thorough job.
