History
From 1949 to 1979, part of the large Wentworth Estate was home to the Lady Mabel College of Physical Education, which trained female physical education teachers. The college later merged with Sheffield City Polytechnic, which eventually gave up the lease in 1988 due to high maintenance costs.

Since that time, these buildings have been used for other purposes. The accommodation blocks have been the site of airsoft games, and the classroom buildings close to the pool have been used for training police dogs. Some of these rooms now seem to be inhabited by chickens from a nearby house. Some of the buildings adjoining the hall are currently used by local businesses, and there is also some renovation going on in some parts of the site.
The Explore
Visited with @Esoteric Eric. Some fairly significant sneaking involved here, as the site is currently quite active with builders and people who live (very) nearby. The site is watched quite closely on multiple sides.... Once inside each section, however, we proceeded quietly and remained undisturbed, leaving things as we found them. Parts of this site are seriously impressive, and the presence of builders is perhaps a sign that renovation work is ongoing. Looking at my photos afterwards I got that slightly disappointed sense that they don’t quite do the grandness of this place justice, but they are what they are…
(Also credit to @Paulxsplore for his recent report alerting us to the fact that this was currently doable...)
Accommodation Blocks
This was perhaps the least impressive part of the site, so just a couple of photos for completeness…
The pool
This is where things start to get a bit more interesting…
Changing Rooms…
Main building and hall…
Taking photos of @Esoteric Eric taking photos of a derelict swimming pool…
