An eerie looking place, but the name plantin was driving me mad, I thought you had spelled the plantain (fruit) wrong. What does plantin mean? Or is it planting spelled wrong? No foul meant, and I want to stand corrected?

Its just another name for plantation buts its locally known as the plantin
